The results of a standard breast reduction/lift are usually highly satisfactory, however they do not last and after just a few months the breasts can begin to re-sag and the surgery scars may become more noticeable. OrbiShape prevents re-sagging of the breasts and the scars from surgery are improved because the device relieves some of the tension and weight on the skin.

The OrbiShape silicone sling is inserted into the breast during the breast reduction/lift procedure and is anchored to the ribs. It supports the breasts so part of the weight of the breasts sits on the device.

A traditional breast lift or reduction takes between 1-3 hours. The OrbiShape procedure will add an additional 20-45 minutes to the overall procedure time. As with all regular breast/lift reduction surgery, you will be required to stay in hospital for 12-24 hours depending on your recovery outcome.

Different women experience different levels of pain following the procedure, however this is just the same with a regular breast reduction/lift. Some women experience no pain at all and others feel it more acutely, but this can be managed with painkillers and the right aftercare protocols.

On the contrary, you may actually have reduced scarring. Scarring may result due to tension over the suture line, however with the OrbiShape device, the sling relieves tension from the skin therefore allowing an improved healing process and less visible scarring.

All breast lift & reduction surgery can potentially prevent successful breast-feeding in approximately 5-10% of cases. The OrbiShape device and insertion during surgery will not add to that risk. Your surgeon will explain any potential risks to you before you decide to go ahead with any surgery.

All breast lift & reduction surgery can potentially impair nipple areola sensation in approximately 3-7% of cases, however the OrbiShape device and insertion during surgery will not add to that risk.

Taking into consideration the natural ageing process, fluctuations in body weight and the size and texture of your breasts, you might decide to repeat the procedure in the years to come. It is important to highlight that a traditional breast lift or reduction procedure without the addition of the OrbiShape device, would need to be repeated far sooner.

In the majority of cases, the answer is no. With smaller breast sizes and softer textured skin, the device might be lightly felt, but certainly not as much than with traditional breast augmentation implants.

The risk of an infection is very low, however if this occurs then you will be administered IV antibiotics and in the rare case that the infection cannot be dealt with, you would need to have the OrbiShape device removed and re-inserted several months later.
